Mental Health Helplines can help us by providing someone to listen. That’s all we need sometimes, and talking is shown to be one of the most effective ways to help support positive mental health.
This article is by no means an exhaustive list of mental health hotlines or wellbeing support lines but we hope to build a more comprehensive list as time goes on. Urgent or Emergency Care
If you are in immediate danger – call 999. In a non-emergency where police involvement is required, call 101.
If you need help during a mental health crisis or emergency, NHS urgent mental health helplines provide:
- 24-hour advice and support – for you, your child, your parent or someone you care for
- help to speak to a mental health professional
- an assessment to help decide on the best course of care
Not specifically a mental health helpline, but trained Samaritans will listen without judgement or interference. Call 116123 or email firstname.lastname@example.org Service available 24/7.

CALM is the Campaign Against Living Miserably, for men aged 15 to 35.

Provides information and support for anyone with mental health problems or learning disabilities.

Voluntary charity offering support for sufferers of panic attacks and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). Offers a course to help overcome your phobia or OCD.
