Mental Health Organisations

A list of mental health organisations in the UK and internationally that can provide information, support, advice, and guidance around mental health challenges and mental health support. We also have a more narrow list of mental health charities if you are specifically looking for non-profits.

The Mental Health Lab have listed below Mental Health Organisations that we have found useful in terms of our research and collaboration. We cannot vouch for, or recommend any of the organisations on the list beyond our personal involvement, and it’s important that you do your own research into any of the organisations before you enter into any relationship with them.

Anxiety UK
Anxiety UK is a national registered charity formed in 1970, by Katharine and Harold Fisher, for those affected by anxiety, stress and anxiety-based depression.


Beat is a UK eating disorder charity providing a helpline, information, and support to people facing an eating disorder and to their families and friends in support.

Bipolar UK
Bipolar UK works to empower everyone affected by bipolar to live well and fulfil their potential.


Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM)
CALM runs a helpline and webchat and also campaign about poor mental health.

Childline runs a helpline and education programme that helps anyone under 19 in the UK with any issue they’re going through the use of trained counsellors.





Grassroots is a small, Brighton based charity with a simple but powerful goal: that no one should have to contemplate suicide alone. They are leading the way in providing awareness, education, and training about suicide.







Men’s Health Forum
The Men’s Health Forum is a charity supporting men’s health in England, Wales and Scotland through research, raising awareness, advocacy, and signposting.

Mental Health Foundation
Established in 1949, the Mental Health Foundation is a UK charity. They work on community and peer programmes, research, public engagement, and advocacy.

Federation of small local mental health charities with a national brand that works to support people facing mental health problems so that they don’t have to do it on their own. Each local charity is responsible for its own funding. National Mind is the beneficiary of a large amount of public funding which they use for advocacy and education and to provide small grants to the local Minds.


Nest + Grow CIC
A community interest company working to create opportunities for individuals and communities through a focus on projects with a mental health element for children and young people and families. Founders of the Mental Health Lab.

The National Health Service is the UK’s public health provider and covers both physical and mental health.

No Panic
No Panic specialises in self-help recovery and services include providing people with the skills they need to manage their condition and work towards recovery, enabling them to lead more fulfilled lives.


OCD Action
OCD Action is the national charity focusing on Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and providing a helpline, support, awareness, and advocacy.


Papyrus UK
Papyrus UK works to reduce the number of young people who take their own lives by shattering the stigma around suicide and equipping young people and their communities with the skills to recognise and respond to suicidal behaviour.

Place2Be provide mental health support in schools through one-to-one and group counselling using tried and tested methods backed by research. They also offer expert training and professional qualifications.



Rethink Mental Illness
Rethink Mental Illness is a charity that provides over 200 services, 140 local support groups and runs campaigns.


Samaritans are a charity that offers to listen and support to people in times of need through their helpline and also in person. They are non-judgemental.

SANE works to raise public awareness; excite research, and bring more effective professional treatment and compassionate care to everyone affected by mental illness through a helpline, Textcare and online Support Forum where people share their feelings and experiences.


Time to Change
Time to Change is a joint venture project between the charity Mind and the charity Rethink Mental Illness.






YoungMinds works to make sure all young people can get the mental health support they need, when they need it, no matter what. They do this by providing advice and information to children and parents.
